The Process: Working with a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®)

After meeting with Jon LaVine, CPA, CDFA®, and retaining him to serve as your Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, the next step in the process is information gathering. This step includes securing copies of tax returns, financial account information, living expenses, legal documents, and creating a complete list of assets, including real estate, personal property, retirement accounts, and business information. Jon and his team will assist you with any help that you require.

The preparation of financial data is important to assist in determining temporary and court-ordered alimony and assisting in making asset allocation decisions.

During the analysis phase of the process, Jon will carefully review the information, discuss anything that may need to be clarified, and gain an understanding of your finances to create a comprehensive divorce financial strategy.

As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, Jon is available to consult with your divorce attorney as part of the pre-divorce strategy development or during the divorce proceedings, as needed. Jon can also recommend specialists who value businesses, conduct investigative or forensic accounting if it’s advisable, based on your circumstances or situation.
